Launch of EUfarms+: an Erasmus+ program for the transmission of organic agroecology

From March 12 to 14, 2025

Havelange, Wallonia, Belgium

The network EUfarms will launch the project Erasmus+ EUfarms+, an innovative initiative to structure and develop a European network of peer learning farms in organic agroecology. This initiative will bring together farmers, researchers and trainers to lay the foundations for sustainable collaboration in the service of the agricultural transition in Europe.

An ambitious project for the agriculture of tomorrow

Faced with major challenges (production model based by default on plant protection products dangerous for human health and ecosystems, non-renewal of generations of farmers, lack of attractiveness of the profession, problematic dependence on fossil fuels in geopolitical issues, dependence on imports of inputs and export of production, great vulnerability to climate change, profound degradation of soil and water, production models not very diversified and economically vulnerable, loss of biodiversity, poor breeding conditions) and the need to transmit agroecological know-how (more attractive profession, job creation, positive impacts on human health and ecosystems, regeneration of soil, water, biodiversity, animal welfare, nutritional quality, etc.) for new generations of farmers, EUfarms+ aims to :

✅ Develop a common methodology and educational tools for peer learning in organic agroecology.

✅ Measure our impacts very concretely (not just our practices) to demonstrate on a large scale and scientifically the relevance of our approach.

✅ Facilitate access to European mobilities Erasmus+ for farmers wishing to train in other countries.

✅ Build a resource platform and evaluation to support the increase in skills of farmers engaged in the agroecological transition.

A network committed to organic agroecology

EUfarms+ is the first action of the network EUfarms, in conjunction with major European players in the agricultural and training sector, including the CIVAM du Gard (France), AgroParisTech (France), Farm for Good (Belgium), Fattoria La Vialla (Italy), Gut und Bösel (Germany) and PWB Grupa Szkoleniowa (Poland). In 2025: 5 countries, 330 farms 19,700 ha Structuring a European model EUfarms+ benefits from Erasmus+ funding to support the structuring of the network over two years (2025-2027). Ultimately, this project aims to:

Train and support hundreds of farmers in Europe.

Implement tools to evaluate and improve agroecological practices.

Promote a resilient (organic agroecological) and economically viable model, capable of responding to climate and food issues, and more broadly the challenges of the profession today.
